The Vision

India’s next hero is Ashoka Samrat: a travelling royal throne-and-palki structure moving on a path, with 4 silver-bhala dancers, 1 king and 4 Kalaripayattu fight artists — total 9 artists.

Four big throne-and-palki structures move like a royal procession on a concealed path mechanism. At the centre, Ashoka Samrat sits in a shiny silver royal throne-palki, guarded by four armour-and-bhala dancers and four Kalaripayattu artists in white-and-silver stick-combat costumes.

The Act

The Ashoka Samrat Act

A 10-minute travelling showpiece built around four moving throne-and-palki structures on a concealed path mechanism, escorted by 4 silver-armoured bhala dancers and 4 Kalaripayattu stick-combat artists — total 9 artists including Ashoka Samrat.

The Silver Throne-Palki
Centrepiece

The Silver Throne-Palki

Four hand-sculpted silver-finish travelling throne-and-palki structures with domed canopies, ornate pillars, sculpted horses and royal flags. Each unit is mounted on a concealed wheeled mechanism so the full procession travels smoothly down the parade path with the Samrat enthroned at centre.

Silver Bhala Escort
Procession

Silver Bhala Escort

Four adult male dancers in shiny royal silver armour and ivory dhoti march around the moving palki structures, carrying tall silver bhala spears in synchronised processional choreography that catches and throws light.

Kalaripayattu Stick Warriors
Combat

Kalaripayattu Stick Warriors

Four authentic Kalaripayattu artists in white-and-silver combat costume perform a live stick-fight sequence ahead of the throne — spinning, striking and clearing the path for the emperor in a precise, grounded martial choreography.

Performance Flow
  1. 01Conch and nagara heralds open the avenue in low torchlight
  2. 02Four Kalaripayattu warriors enter spinning silver sticks in fight choreography
  3. 03Four bhala dancers march in diamond formation, silver spears catching the light
  4. 04Four travelling throne-and-palki structures roll forward on the hidden mechanism path, with Samrat Ashoka enthroned at centre
  5. 05Climax tableau — warriors freeze, spears raised, as the Dharma Chakra rises behind the throne
Costumes
  • Lead Samrat — ornate silver Mukut (crown), heavy layered silver chest aabhushan, silver bajuband and kangan, elaborate silver kamarbandh over an ivory dhoti with zari border (Ancient Indian Regal / Divine Masculinity)
  • 4 bhala dancers — royal silver armour breastplates with engraved motifs, silver shoulder guards, ivory dhoti, silver wristbands and head-band, carrying tall silver bhala (spears)
  • 4 Kalaripayattu artists — white kurta and dhoti with silver sash and silver belt, silver wristlets, bare feet, carrying polished wooden combat sticks
Props & Stage Elements
  • 4 travelling throne-and-palki structures — shiny silver finish, domed canopy, carved pillars, royal flags and concealed wheeled mechanism for slow movement down the parade path
  • Silver royal chariot framing with sculpted horses on the front carriage
  • 8 tall silver bhala (ceremonial spears) with tasselled grips
  • 4 polished hardwood Kalaripayattu sticks (silla-mbu) with silver caps
  • Mauryan Dharma Chakra disc — illuminated rear element that rises behind the throne at climax
  • Silver-and-white ceremonial parasols (chhatra) carried alongside the palki
Makeup Direction

Bronzed regal complexion for the Samrat with kohl-rimmed eyes, central red tilak, and subtle silver highlights along the cheekbones. Warriors in clean matte bronze with a single silver streak across the brow.

Music & Sound

Pre-recorded cinematic Mauryan score — deep nagara war drums, conch blasts, Sanskrit shloka chant layered with orchestral strings building to a Dharma Chakra crescendo. No live musicians on stage.

Parade Formation

Kalaripayattu quartet leads in a square fight-formation, bhala dancers flank the rolling throne-palki in a diamond, Samrat enthroned at dead centre — entire formation travels as one moving tableau down the avenue.

Creative Direction Notes

Lighting in cool silver-white with warm amber accents on the throne. Cold-spark fountains line the path as the palki rolls. Haze and a low rumble underscore the mechanism's movement so the throne appears to glide. The whole act reads as a single silver-and-ivory cinematic frame in motion.
